“Now Thrive the Armorers”: Arms and Armor in Shakespeare is on display at the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, DC through September 9.
From their website:
This exhibition will bring visitors face to face with chivalric ideals and battlefield realities in Shakespeare’s plays through a selection of arms and armor from the Higgins Armory Museum in Massachusetts, ranging from a knightly sword of the Middle Ages to a full suit of armor that belonged to the earl of Pembroke in Shakespeare’s day. These artifacts will be displayed in conjunction with related items from the Folger Shakespeare Library, including military treatises, fencing manuals, and depictions of armor both realistic and fanciful.
